콘셉트는 문제해결 과정에서 핵심적인 역할을 수행한다. 콘셉트는 문제해결의 보이지 않는 중요한 요소로서 문제해결의 결과물인 형태를 형성하고 메시지를 전달한다. 본 책의 목적은 문제해결 교육 과정에서 필요한 체계적인 콘셉트 개발 방법과 논리적인 사고를 키우는 교육 방법을 추구하여, 논리적이고 언어적인 사고가 부족한 학생들에게 논리와 언어를 작위적으로 활용할 수 있는 방법을 제안하는 것이다.
본 책의 진행은 우선 콘셉트의 개념을 정립하기 위해 콘셉트의 어원과 콘셉트의 분류 및 특징을 알아보았으며, 특히 창의적인 콘셉트의 기본요소인 지식을 버른즈Brynes의 구분법을 통해 고찰하였고, 지식을 아이디어로서 개발하는 방법으로는 워라스Wallas의 창의적 과정을 설명하였다. 또한 길포드Guilford의 창의성 연구와 캐롤Caroll의 의사결정을 사례를 통해서 응용하고 분석함으로써 문제해결에 필요한 콘셉트 사고체계를 도출하였다. 콘셉트는 인간의 뇌에서 만들어지며, 이러한 관점을 인지과학 논의 중에 하나인 다층 퍼셉트론에 적용하여 효율적인 콘셉트 개발 모델을 제안하였다. 이로 인해 저자가 개발한‘다층 퍼셉트론에 의한 콘셉트 개발 방법론’의 명칭을 “디자인 콘셉토”Design Conceptor라고 명명하였다. “디자인 콘셉토”는 ‘콘셉트를 쉽게 창안하게 도와주는 모델이자 도구’라는 것을 의미하는 개념이다. 콘셉트 개발에서 “디자인 콘셉토”의 중요성을 첫째, 의식적인 방법으로 콘셉트를 창안할 수 있다, 둘째, 확산사고와 수렴사고를 의식적으로 유도할 수 있다, 셋째, 체계적인 콘셉트 개발을 할 수 있다고 인식하였다. 이는 다른 아이디어 창안 기법이나 문제해결 기법과는 다른 방법론이다. 또한 콘셉트 발상기법인 “디자인 콘셉토”는 21세기형 기획 능력인 ① 개념력_이상을 구상할 수 있는 능력, ② 정보 수집력_정보를 활용할 수 있는 능력, ③ 창조력_아이디어를 발상할 수 있는 능력, ④ 구성력_해결책을 구상할 수 있는 능력, ⑤ 실현력_해결책을 실천할 수 있는 능력 등을 높여 줄 수 있다.

This book introduces a systematic method for concept development and an educational approach that promotes logical thinking, which is essential for problem-solving education. It also presents a method for students to navigate logical and verbal thinking better, empowering them to use logic and language more effectively.
The book comprehensively introduces the concept, delving into its etymology, classification, and characteristics. It thoroughly explores knowledge, the cornerstone of a creative concept, using Brynes’ classification method and defining knowledge as an idea. Additionally, it elucidates Wallas’ creative process as a development method. Furthermore, Guilford’s creativity research and Caroll’s decision-making are applied and analyzed through examples to derive a conceptual thinking system essential for problem-solving. The creation of concepts originates in the human brain. A robust model for developing concepts is proposed by applying this perspective to the multi-layer perceptron, a topic frequently discussed in cognitive science. The author coined the methodology ‘Design Conceptor.’ ‘Design Conceptor’ is a model and tool that streamlines the creation of concepts. The significance of concepts in concept development was acknowledged as follows: First, concepts can be consciously created. Second, divergent and convergent thinking can be consciously induced. Third, systematic concept development can be executed. This methodology stands apart from other idea-generation or problem-solving techniques. The ‘Design Conceptor’ is a concept ideation technique rooted in 21st-century planning skills: 1. Conceptual ability – the ability to envision an ideal; 2. Information collection ability – the ability to utilize information; 3. Creativity – the ability to come up with an idea; 4. Compositional ability – the ability to conceive a solution; and 5. Realization – the ability to put solutions into practice. ‘Design Conceptor’ is a theoretical and practical methodology based on the multi-layer perceptron.
This method allows for the easy conception of concepts required to solve future problems and can be used as a concept development tool alongside other methods. ‘Design Conceptor’ is actively applied to problem-solving education and has demonstrated tangible results in improving students’ logical thinking after training.
