Typography in the Street Environment with the National Standard Designs

Abstract:

I developed the national standard system of street name signs and building number signs, which have been part of irregular and indiscriminate visual pollution, into a more systematic and efficient design as the Republic of Korea’s current address system is reorganized into street names and numbers. Since the street environment is a human-made space, many different personalities coexist at the same time to create visual pollution. Therefore, this research defined visual elements, mechanicals, materials, and installations for the street environment and people. It helps to improve the national brand image as a differentiated design from the design of other countries. In this presentation, the presenter intends to focus on the relationship between typography, street environment, and national standard design from the various macro and micro-study of this study, based on the following research philosophy.
